Step Into Work
The Step Into Work project is part of our wider volunteering work and is specifically designed to encourage young people aged 14-25 and individuals with disabilities and/or long term health conditions to gain skills and confidence.
Funding and Aims
The Step Into Work project is being funded by the National Lottery Community Fund. This funding was granted in 2023 and will last for 4 years. It has enabled us to hire Siobhan Hibble who has joined the team as our Volunteer Coordinator. Siobhan is responsible for recruiting and managing to volunteers so that they can gain essential skills and help to support our community.
The project will run until 2027 and will enable us to welcome volunteers from all walks of life. The groups above have been identified as some of those who may struggle to find suitable, fulfilling work experience to fit their skills and needs.
The project aims to increase opportunities and provide valuable work skills and experience to individuals who may otherwise face barriers to employment, while providing vital support to the Law Centre’s paid staff and clients.
Derbyshire Law Centre aims to induct, train, support and nurture volunteers to increase their skills and confidence to the point where they can move into further education, training or employment. It will also allow us to grow our volunteer team and increase the overall capacity of the organisation.
