Derbyshire Law Centre Fee Charging structure for Immigration work

What we do

Derbyshire Law Centre offers a free initial advice service by telephone and email to residents of Derbyshire. We may also offer a free service to a wider geographical area, according to particular project funding that is available at any time for those areas. For other casework, where we do not have specific funding, we have to charge for our service.

What we don’t do

We do not generally carry out work involving student or work based visas as this assistance is widely available elsewhere.

We are a registered charity and not for profit organisation and as such our fees are generally lower than the fees you would pay at a private practice. Please note that our fees do not include any fees that are separately payable to the Home Office for an application or court fee, or other disbursements such as courier charges, barrister’s fees or translation costs.

Please note that if we agree to take a case on under a fixed fee and you later decide to withdraw your instructions part way through your case, we will charge you for all work we have carried out at an hourly rate of £189, including VAT.

Fixed Fees table for applications and types of work:

Level 1 Applications: Basic applications within the immigration rules / EEA regulations

£650 plus VAT @ 20% fixed fee to include: All attendances and written and telephone correspondence with the client and relevant 3rd parties; consideration, preparation and submission of application and relevant supporting documents; copies of documents and postage. Total inclusive of VAT - £780.

Level 2 Discretionary leave and complex applications / Out of time applications / dependants included in application.

£800 plus VAT @ 20% fixed fee to include: All attendances and written and telephone correspondence with the client and relevant 3rd parties; consideration, preparation and submission of application and relevant supporting documents; copies of documents and postage. ~Total inclusive of VAT - £960.

Level 2 Appeal work including drafting Notice of Appeal

Fixed fee includes all attendances and written and telephone correspondence with the client and relevant 3rd parties; consideration and advice on grounds of appeal; preparation and submission of the Notice of Appeal if instructed and relevant supporting documents; informing client of the key dates and referral to a Level 3 adviser/solicitor where required; copies of documents and postage.

Where client to lodge Notice of Appeal £410 plus VAT @ 20% (£492).

Where Derbyshire Law Centre to lodge appeal £550 plus VAT @ 20% (£660)

Level 3 Substantive appeals work and representation at Tribunal

£2,000 plus VAT @ 20% fixed fee includes: All attendances and written and telephone correspondence with the client and relevant 3rd parties; consideration, preparation and submission of the appeal bundle to the Tribunal and relevant parties, informing client of the key dates and requesting expert evidence where appropriate; representation before the Tribunal; copies of documents and postage Total including VAT @ 20% - £2,400

Naturalisation applications

£500 plus VAT @ 20% fixed fee includes: All attendances, telephone calls and written correspondence with the client and relevant 3rd parties; consideration, preparation and submission of application and relevant supporting documents; copies of documents and postage. Total including VAT @ 20% - £600

Travel Document / Transfer of Conditions (TOC) / replacement BRC applications

£200 plus VAT @ 20% fixed fee includes: All attendances and written and telephone correspondence with the client and relevant 3rd parties; consideration, preparation and submission of application and relevant supporting documents; copies of documents and postage. Total including VAT @ 20% - £240

Application check service (checking application form and supporting documentation prior to submission by client)

£300 plus VAT @ 20% fixed fee includes: All attendances, written and telephone correspondence with the client; consideration, preparation of advice and report to client on application and relevant supporting documents; copies of documents and postage. Total including VAT @ 20% - £360
