Fixed Fee/ Charged For Work
We may be able to offer a fixed fee or charged for work within certain areas of law (housing, discrimination, employment and immigration). We pride ourselves on providing low cost legal advice and assistance, and have competitive charging rates, which start at £125 per hour (including VAT). Each case is assessed on an individual basis, taking complexity, time limits and the experience of the solicitor or caseworker involved in to account. Typically our charges range between £125 per hour, up to a maximum of £196 per hour, both inclusive of VAT. If your case is being dealt with on an hourly rate, this will be agreed with you at the start of the case, along with the likely total cost; you are always free to set a cap so you know exactly how much the work will cost you. If we are working on a fixed fee basis, again this will be agreed with you at the start of the case. In both cases we will require either all of the fixed fee, or a part of the hourly rate costs to be paid up front.
You should also check all your insurance policies for legal expense cover (legal expense insurance). If you have this cover, check to see whether it covers employment claims.
If it does, contact your insurer to see whether you can make an insurance claim to cover the cost of legal advice and representation. When you make a claim under your insurance policy you can tell your insurer that would like Derbyshire Law Centre to undertake the work and the insurance company will pay us.
